Vid of U.S. Supreme Court Opinion, NJ Transit case, March 4, 2026

Admin. Notes: { Note: The cases in the U.S. Supreme Court Opinions are usually “cases” from other courts that have been appealed for a higher decision, therefore when referring to a case it is usually a case from a different court. } The NJ Transit case appears to be a “jurisdiction case” concerning what State Court has jurisdiction to decide or process the law suits. NJ Transit was sued by two different people and the incidents happened out of State, the cases were filed in the State where the incidents happened. NJ Transit claimed “immunity” from the law suits, claiming they are a New Jersy state company and didn’t have to be responsible for the claims, complaints, or law suits filed in a different State. The U.S. Supreme Court Opinion shows a decision about a specific part of the case and doesn’t show a decision about the Complaint, Claim, or Law Suit. It made a decision about if the case should continue, the case still needs to go to the other Judge(s) to be decided at the other lower Courts.
